Hand gestures are must for the fairly-stationary MC, lest the live show be complete shite. Hands can illustrate lyrics and reflect feelings and actions, as well as pointing like Lord Kitchener. Hand gestures mean all kinds of things and I am not yet interested enough to delve too narrow.
Here are some hands in action:
Hand association eh. Another patch of awareness, another piece of responsibility, another aspect to control for my character. I was going to get 21 like yesterday with the Steve Coogans but I think that it'd be a waste of time really. I should bring in irrelevant ones from other professions or cultures. I need to find the fashions, the albums covers and the logos...but I do not have to adopt them. Is Sprueman an extension or a reaction or a blend or a parody? What does he want to do? He wants to entertain, to distract, to put silly pictures in the heads of his listeners. Rapping is the medium, language is the toy. In order to create a successful character, I must give him good lyrics, a good script, a definite identity, a background [he is a creation of someone else, but not a supreme being]...this will be easy since I have done a lot of research and feel confident about the rhythm and rhyme involved. I will refrain from deliberate slang references. Liquid identity man. This is an exercise in ignoring externally suggested boundaries - perhaps all terms are boundaries by defining what they are not. Is/is not do not matter, there is only can in this man's mindset.
